TRAVELIN' LIGHT :  Mary Michaelson (vocals) and Lou Lippman (keyboard), otherwise known as "Mary n' Lou n' Who Knows Who?",  invite local area professional musicians to join them on gigs.  One fan recently stated that their jam sessions "were reminiscent of the roadhouse sessions of 50 years ago."  Depending upon the request of the client, they may include a drummer, bass (electric or stand-up), horn/coronet, sax/clarinet or even a tuba!  They specialize in "Light Jazz, Blues and Danceable Standards,"  loosely falling into the category of "oldies" from the 1920's through the 1950's.

MARY MICHAELSON:  Mary grew up in the Los Angeles area, making her first singing appearance for an audience of hundreds of people at a Michaelson family reunion.  Her father, a fine singer and composer in his own right, accompanied her on guitar for her whole childhood.  At the age of 16, Mary successfully auditioned to become the "girl singer" for a high school swing band known as "The Saints."  Thus began a lifetime of exposure to Big Band-style music.
Mary has also been a soloist with The Kulshan Chorus, as well as many other choral groups, through the years.  She practices new material on Tuesday and Thursday nights at the American Legion in Birch Bay (Karaoke with Jeff) and has been a regular guest singer at Bobby Lee's in Everson, where Travelin' Light played for several months during Bobby Lee's absence.

LOU LIPPMAN:
Lou Lippman is a popular musician-about-town.  He bestows his considerable pianistic talents on a number of groups, including The Prawns, The Halleck Street Ramblers, Clearbrook Dixieland Jazz Band, What the Chelm, Millie and the Mentshn and now..Travelin' Light.  He has finally fulfilled his dream of retirement, allowing him time to do the thing he loves the most..play beautiful music.  Although his early exposure to the piano (as a child) was classical, he derives special pleasure from playing music from the "good old days."  Big Band music is right at the top of his list of favorites.  Lou and Mary met in 2007 while he was playing with The Prawns and Mary managed to convince him to let her sing "Pennies From Heaven" with the band.  They soon discovered that their styles were very compatible and eventually the concept of Travelin' Light was formed:  A "group" which would start small and simple..vocalist and  keyboard..and expand to a band of whatever size and composition the client wanted.  Without Lou's extensive contacts with local area musicians, this would not have been possible.
